Versopolis is one of the biggest poetry projects to ever take place in Europe, linking together innumerate poets and festivals, constantly creating connections and collaborations. What could be a better partner for the opening event of the European Poetry Festival 2023? This was a special Camarade event, where Versopolis poets from across the UK and visiting from multiple nations presented new works made with poet pairs - a series of premiere performances of literary and experimental poetry, all at the brilliant Iklectik Artlab in Waterloo!

Throughout the European Poetry Festival 2023 there will be appearances by other poets who have participated in the Versopolis project including Zuzana Husarova on April 22nd, Laura Accerboni and Sascha Garzetti on April 26th, Eduard Escoffet and Tomica Bajsic on April 29th, Dominique de Groen on May 4th, Maria Barnas on May 6th, and many more.

A special Versopolis Poetry celebration event sees readings and performances by poets supported by the groundbreaking cross continental literary platform, which connects festivals and organisations across Europe, celebrating exchange and community in contemporary poetry culture.

Versopolis poetry platform and review presents a chance to see some of Europe's finest contemporary poets, representing the Bookfair's nation-in-focus, Lithuania, alongside the UK. Sasha Dugdale, Hannah Lowe, Aušra Kaziliūnaitė and Marius Burokas have built international reputations around their remarkable poetry and in this event, curated by SJ Fowler, the threads of their ambitious and insightful works will be drawn out further, when allied together.
