The opening event of the 2025 festival celebrates one of the most exciting literary scenes in contemporary Europe - Latvia! In the iconic National Poetry Library, four of Latvia’s most exciting poets come to the UK to perform their work, as well as brand new collaborations made with British poets, just for this event. This will be a brilliant, joyous, energised event of collaborative poetic performance and literary readings, from a nation that champions our festival for the seventh year running. Featuring new poetry and performance collaborations by
Krišjānis Zeļģis and Steven J. Fowler
Līva Marta Roze and Danica Ignacio
Linda Mence and Mary Paterson
Agnese Graudiņa and James Byrne
Supported by Latvian Literature and curated by SJ Fowler.
Latvian Literature and the poets of Latvia have been one of the festival’s biggest partners and supporters since it’s inception. To see all the performances from previous European Poetry Festival Latvian celebration events, visit
