Opening the first Nordic Poetry Festival at burley fisher books : October Friday 11th 2019
The first Nordic Poetry Festival began with the opening of our exhibition of Nordic visual poetry and a night of brilliant readings. The exhibition featured new work by Morten Søndergaard, Ragnhildur Johanns, Vilde Valerie Bjerke Torset and Tommi Musturi who will read on the night alongside other visiting Nordic poets, including Aase Berg, Tiina Lehikoinen, Bård Torgersen and Lars Skinnebach in an intimate and generous opening to the first ever NPF.
The exhibition, entitled ‘I DREAM OF A FOREST. BUT IT’S A PROCESS’ presents the remarkable innovation and depth in contemporary Nordic literature by evidencing a range of visual poetics. From Søndergaard’s world-renowned conceptual public poetry to Musturi’s comic-zine-punk poems, from Torset’s 21st century pansemic and asemic explorations, to Johanns three-dimensional poetry collections and interventions, this is a unique chance to see what poetry can be in our time.
The exhibition will run October 11th to October 18th 2019. Viewing hours are 8.30am to 7pm weekdays.
This event will also serve as the launch for our exhibition anthology, featuring works by the exhibiting poets and presented by our publisher in residence TIMGLASET, edited by Joakim Norling. www.timglaset.com More information on our publisher in residence can be found here:
